"To be an afro scribe is being a black writer. It is to inject language, philosophy, and other aspects of black culture into the content of the work. I view the term, afro scribe, as a noun and verb. It is who a person is and what that person does. This book is divided into 5 sections that reflect my moods or thinking over the last 12 years. I provide a brief introduction for each to frame the content as much as possible. Given that reading poetry is a subjective experience, I try to provide context for my work. I’m not trying to explain it."
